Manesio And Hammouda Named To All-Tournament Team

CHICAGO, Ill. - Sergio Manesio and Hesham Hammouda earned all-tournament team honors at the conclusion of the Horizon League tournament on Saturday night.

Manesio, a junior from London, England, led the Vikings all season long in the back and his strong play continued into the tournament. CSU shutout Detroit in the 1-0 win and also shutout Oakland in regulation before allowing a golden goal in the first overtime period. Manesio was part of a defense that shutout six of its final seven opponents prior to Oakland. The only goals given up by the Viking defense since October 10 were a loose-ball goal scored by Ohio State with 13 seconds remaining in regulation and Oakland's golden goal scored off a free kick in overtime.

Hammouda, a sophomore from Cairo, Egypt, was a force at the wing for the Vikings, controlling the speed of play and scoring the golden goal in Cleveland State's 1-0, double overtime victory over Detroit to send them to the semifinals in Chicago. Hammouda took three shots in the Vikings two Horizon League tournament games, playing all 98 minutes against Oakland. All three of his goals this season came in 1-0 victories.

The Vikings finished the season 9-8-2, going 6-2-1 over the second half of the season.
