Drobac Earns Horizon League Defensive Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State goalkeeper Aleksandar Drobac was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Vikings' 1-0 win at UIC last Friday.

The award comes just hours after CSU's Sergio Manesio was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year.

The awards should not come as a surprise as the Cleveland State defense has been lights-out over its last six games, giving up just one goal over that stretch with five shutouts. That streak is Cleveland State's best six-game defensive stretch since 1968.

Since entering the starting lineup on Sept. 23, Drobac has led the Vikings to a 6-3-2 overall record including 5-1-1 over their last seven. For the year, Drobac has given up just nine goals in those 11 games (1037:45 minutes), making 42 saves. He has made at least six saves in a game on three separate occasions this season including the win over UIC that sealed CSU's trip to the Horizon League tournament.

The Vikings will be in action tonight (Nov. 9) in the first round of the Horizon League tournament, hosting Detroit at 7:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
