CSU Plays To a 2-2 Draw Against Mercyhurst

CLEVELAND, Ohio. – The Cleveland State men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against Mercyhurst on Tuesday night at Krenzler Field in their first preseason match of the 2015 season.

It was Mercyhurst who struck first midway through the first half as Richard Vanhorne took a through ball over the top and finished quickly to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead.  The Vikings answered moments later, however, as senior Victor Zamora took a cross down the middle from freshman midfielder Gianluca DiFranco into the back of the net to tie it at 1-1, as the score remained into the half.

It was DiFranco again in the second half for the Vikings, this time finding the back of the net on his own after taking a ball down the middle 12 minutes into the half to give CSU a 2-1 lead.  That lead, like Mercyhurst's first half lead, went away quickly, though, as Mercyhurst's Joe Korb scored just a few minutes later to even the scoring at two apiece.

The Vikings will be back in action this Saturday (Aug. 22) at St. Francis (Pa.) to wrap up preseason play.
