ROCHESTER, Mich. - The fourth-seeded Cleveland State men's soccer team had its season come to an end with a 2-1 setback at top-seeded Oakland in the Horizon League semifinals on Thursday night.

The Vikings finish the season with a 6-12-1 overall record, while Oakland improved to 8-6-3 and advanced to the league championship match where they will face third-seeded Wright State on Saturday night.

The Raiders advanced to the finals with a 2-0 win over second-seeded Detroit in the other semifinal match.

CSU goalkeeper Nick Ciraldo was sensational all night, withstanding 24 shots from Oakland and making seven saves, including several at point blank range in the second half to help keep the match tied.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute of tonight's semifinal on Sergio Manesio's team-leading fifth goal of the season. Manesio took a pass from Mike Derezic and blasted a shot from just inside the box to the far post to give CSU the lead.

It remained that way until the 71:06 mark when Oakland was awarded a free kick from just outside the box. Gavin Hoy took the free kick and was able to bend it around the CSU wall, tying the match at 1-1.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Oakland used a Golden Goal from Gerald Ben with just 30 seconds to play, sending the Golden Grizzlies into the championship match. Ben's goal came from the left side of the box after he collected a loose ball in the box.
