Men's Soccer Earns Big Win Against UIC, 3-1

CLEVELAND, OH – The Vikings faced off in a big game against conference opponent UIC Saturday evening in a 3-1 victory at Krenzler Field.

The Vikings improve to 6-10 and 4-3 in Horizon league play while UIC drops to 6-8-2 and 2-4-1 in league play.

Cleveland State's Mike Matlock struck first on a header in the 29th minute with an assist from Kevin Blackwood.  The Flames answered with a goal of their own also in the first half with a goal by Jorge Alvarez off a corner kick from Alex Simon.

The Vikings pulled away with two second half goals coming from Sergio Manesio and Mike Derezic. Alex Simon, Alec Nagucki, Thomas Beck, and Sergio Manesio tallied assists with the two goals.

CSU and UIC equaled in shots, 9-9, and corner kicks, 11-11. Nick Ciraldo was in net for the Vikings and had 3 saves with the win.

CSU looks to finish strong with their last regular season game to host Green Bay next Friday (Nov. 7) in a league match at 7:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
