The Vikings Continue League Play with Two Matches this Week

•The Cleveland State men's soccer team continues the 2014 regular season with two Horizon League matches this week.

• The Vikings resume league play on Wednesday (Oct. 15) with a 7:00 p.m. match at Wright State and host Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m on Saturday (Oct. 18).

• The Vikings are 4-7 this year and 2-1 in Horizon League play.

• Wright State's record this year is 7-4-1 and 2-2 in league play and Valparaiso's record is 7-2-3 and 2-1 in the Horizon League.

• CSU played two games last week and dropped both at home by identical 1-0 scores.

• Cleveland State and Bowling Green went scoreless in regulation but the Falcons scored off a free kick at the 99:15 mark to win the game.

• Oakland struck first after an own goal by Cleveland State off a corner kick in the second half which was good enough to beat CSU. 

• The Vikings had the advantage in corner kicks in each game for a total of 13-5. 

Nick Ciraldo played all 180-minutes in goal and made three saves in each match. 

Alvaro Pichardo leads the team with five points with Sergio Manesio, Dan Koniarczyk, and Hesham Hammouda all just  behind with four points.

• Nick Ciraldo has played in 10 games and 41 saves where he ranks fifth in the Horizon League. 

• The Vikings will play just six home matches this year with 11 contests on the road. CSU played eight straight matches away from home from Aug. 31 through Oct. 4.

• CSU will play four games this year against teams that advanced to the NCAA Championship last season (Akron, California, Milwaukee, Wake Forest).

• CSU will continue league play with one game next week  on the road at Detroit on Saturday (Oct. 25) at Titan Field at 2:00 p.m.
