Derezic's Goal Lifts CSU Past Belmont, 1-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Cleveland State men's soccer team continued Horizon League play with a 1-0 victory at Belmont on Saturday afternoon at Rose Park.

CSU improved to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Bruins dropped to 1-10 and 0-2 in the Horizon League.

CSU took the lead and never looked back at the 66:51 mark with a goal header by Mike Derezic and an assist from Jake Lagania. It was Derezic's first goal of the season.

The Vikings outshot Belmont,13-8, and held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

CSU's keeper, Nick Ciraldo, played all 90 minutes in net and recorded three saves to earn the shutout victory.

The Vikings are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 7) when CSU returns home after an eight game road trip with a 7:00 p.m. EST contest against Bowling Green at Krenzler Field.
