The Vikings Travel to Belmont to Finalize Their Road Trip

•The Cleveland State men's soccer team continues the 2014 regular season with one match this week, playing on Saturday (Oct. 4) at 3:00 p.m. at Belmont.

• This match will finalize a stretch of eight straight games away from home for the Vikings.

• The Vikings are 3-5 this year, splitting a pair of matches last week, including a win in the Horizon League opener.

• CSU fell 2-0 at Cincinnati (Sept. 24) and won 3-1 at Milwaukee (Sept. 27) in their first league match. 

• Cincinnati pulled away from CSU with a late second half goal while Cleveland State raced out to a 2-0 lead at Milwaukee to earn the win.

• Junior Alvaro Pichardo and sophomore Dan Koniarczyk scored their second goal of the season against Milwaukee in their league victory.
• Freshman Alec Nagucki scored his first career goal against Milwaukee.

• Seniors Mike Derezic and Alex Obbey and freshmen Hesham Hammouda and Jake Lagania all recorded an assist in the Milwaukee match.

Aleksandar Drobac played in net against Cincinnati and made one save in his first appearance this season and Nick Ciraldo returned against Milwaukee with six saves for CSU. 

• Belmont, a newcomer to the Horizon League, is 1-9 this year and dropped their first two Horizon League games against Valparaiso and Wright State.

• Alvaro Pichardo leads the team with five points with Sergio Manesio, Dan Koniarczyk, and Hesham Hammouda all just  behind with four points.

• Nick Ciraldo has played in seven games with 32 saves and a total of 636:20 in net. 

• The Vikings will play just six home matches this year with 11 contests on the road. CSU will play eight straight matches away from home from Aug. 31 through Oct. 4.

• CSU will play four games this year against teams that advanced to the NCAA Championship last season (Akron, California, Milwaukee, Wake Forest).

• The Vikings return home to host Bowling Green at 7:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field on Tuesday (Oct. 7) at 7 p.m. CSU will also host Oakland on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 7:00 p.m.
