CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's soccer team has withdrawn from the 2013 Horizon League Championship after learning it used an ineligible player in Tuesday's first round win over Wright State.

"The NCAA soccer playing rules require a player who accumulates five yellow cards to sit out the next game," CSU Director of Athletics John Parry said. "We inadvertently failed to follow that protocal. I apologize to all Horizon League members who have been affected by this in the past and future."

"This was an honest mistake and it's unfortunate that our season has to end like this," head coach Ali Kazemaini said. "It's a shame we are not able to defend our league championship, but we will learn from this and come back stronger. We appreciate all the efforts of our seniors throughout their careers and for helping to bring a championship to our program last year."
