Vikings Honored With Horizon League Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-  Late yesterday afternoon, the Horizon League announced five CSU players were honored with post-season award selections.

Three Vikings were honored with All-League first team selections.  Senior forward Admir Suljevic, senior midfielder Aslinn Rodas, and senior defender Zach Ellis-Hayden all earned awards.  Freshman midfielder/forward Amari Williams and freshman midfielder Sergio Manesio, were named to the All-Freshman team.

Suljevic in his Cleveland State soccer career has earned his third straight All- League first team honor, to go along with earning Horizon League All-Newcomer team as a freshman.  Suljevic, who missed nine matches due to injury, has played in 10 matches for Head Coach Ali Kazemaini this year and leads the team in goals scored with six.  Earlier in the season against Detroit (Oct. 23), he posted a hat trick, notching three first half goals in the contest.  This marked the first time a CSU player has achieved the feat since the 2011 season.  He also leads the team in points with 15 and is second on the team in assists with three.

Rodas earns his second straight First Team All-League award.  On the season he has scored one goal and has posted a team-high four assists.  As a sophomore, Rodas was selected as a Second Team All- Horizon League selection.

Ellis-Hayden is the third Viking to earn First Team honors, improving on his second team accolades from a year ago.  He has played in 19 games this year and is the lead anchor on the CSU defense that has tallied three shutouts.

Williams and Manesio, who are playing collegiate soccer for the first time were named to the All-Freshman team. Manesio is tied for second on the team in goals with four, to go along with putting up 10 points and two assists.  Williams has played in 10 games and has notched two assists.
