FREE KICKS:

  • The Cleveland State men's soccer team (7-11-0, 3-3-0  HL) travel to Milwaukee on Saturday (Nov. 9) at 8:00 p.m. for the final regular season match. 

WEEK TEN RECAP:

  • The Vikings split the week going 1-1 with CSU shuting out Wright State, 2-0 (Oct. 30), and falling to Valparaiso 1-0 on Saturday night (Nov. 2). 
  • Senior forward Admir Suljevic scored his sixth goal of the season and Jordan Hart scored his fourth goal in the win over WSU.

SULJEVIC AND HART FIND THE NET:

  • Senior forward Admir Suljevic earned offensive player of the week honors from the Horizon League on Monday (Oct. 28).
  • Suljevic leads the team with six goals on the year, to go along with tallying 15 points and three assists.
  • Along with Hart's four goals, he has tallied nine points on one assist.

ADMIR HAT TRICK:

  • Suljevic posted a hat trick with three first half goals against Detroit (Oct. 23).
  • The last time a hat trick was accomplished since Suljevic's was back on October 11, 2011 vs. Loyola at Krenzler Field.
  • Aaron Adkins of Cleveland State netted three goals in the contest.

SNIFFING THE PLAYOFFS:

  • CSU currently are sitting in the fourth spot of the Horizon League and will try to match what they did last season.

GOALKEEPERS:

  • CSU has used all three goalkeepers on the roster through 16 games.
  • Freshman Nick Ciraldo has started nine games this season saving 24 shots.  Ciraldo picked up his fourth win against Wright State on Wednesday (Oct. 30).
  • Sophomore Austin Saini has tallied 17 saves on the year.  Junior Joe Kalt has played in four matches saving eight shots.

HORIZON LEAGUE STAT RANKINGS:

  • The Vikings are ranked fourth in goals with 21.
  • CSU ranks sixth in assists with 18 and in points Cleveland State ranks fourth with 60.
  • Cleveland State ranks sixth in assists with 18.
  • Suljevic ranks third in points per game with 1.50 and ranks sixth in goals with six.

VIKING CONTRIBUTORS:

  • Freshman midfielder/forward Dan Koniarczyk scored his first goal of his collegiate career against Detroit (Oct. 23).
  • Junior midfielder Gianluca Cuomo also netted his first goal of the season as a Viking against Detroit.

ALL-TIME VS. MILWAUKEE:

  • Cleveland State has played Milwaukee 42 times, with Milwaukee leading the series 24-15-1.  The last time the two schools met was last year with the Vikings winning 2-1.

  •  The Vikings will open play in the Horizon League tornament with the first round game on Tuesday (Nov. 12).  The opponent, location, and time will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
