FREE KICKS:

  • The Cleveland State men's soccer team (2-2-0) will continue regular season play  when the Vikings will travel to play Belmont on Friday (Sept. 13) at 7 p.m. EST and will stay on the road to play Lipscomb on Sunday (Sept. 15) at 1 p.m. EST.

WEEK TWO RECAP:

  • The Vikings fell at No. 7 Louisville, 2-0, on Wednesday and rebounded to win their home opener, 2-1, over Marshall on Sunday.
  • Senior Jordan Hart and Admir Suljevic both scored their second goals of the season against Marshall.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Nick Ciraldo made his first start of the year and had three saves against Marshall. 

HART START:

  • Senior Jordan Hart is off to a strong start in the 2013 season for the Vikings.
  • Hart has two goals on the season to go along with four points through four games.
  • He scored the game winning goal in a thrilling double overtime victory over Portland, 3-2.

SENIOR STAR:

  •  Senior Horizon League First Team All-League selection Aslinn Rodas returns at midfield, coming off an excellent season.
  • Rodas started 17 contests where he was tied for seventh on the team with seven points, two goals, and three assists.
  • As a sophomore, Rodas earned Second Team All-Horizon League selection.

WORKING OT:

  • CSU won at Portland in double overtime 3-2 thanks to a Jordan Hart game winning goal.  The Vikings all-time record in overtime matches is 29-37-74.
  • The Vikings played seven overtime matches last season, winning four and playing to three ties.

GOALKEEPERS:

  • CSU has used all three goalkeepers on the roster through four games.
  • Freshman Nick Ciraldo started his first game agianst Marshall and had three saves to pick up his first win.
  • Sophomore Austin Saini has tallied seven saves on the year and junior Joe Kalt has played in two matches saving four shots.

ADMIR STRONG:

  • Senior first team All-Horizon League Admir Suljevic will continue to lead the Vikings offense at forward. 
  • Suljevic on the year so far, has two goals and four points on the season.
  • He was selected to the 2012 NSCAA Division I Men's All-Great Lakes Region Second Team.

ZACH ATTACK:

  • Senior defender Zach Ellis- Hayden was named to the All-Horizon League second team last year.
  • Ellis-Hayden was tied for second on the team with four goals and third on the team in points (10).
  • Ellis-Hayden was named to the 2012 NSCAA Division I Men's All-Great Lakes Region Third Team.

UP NEXT:

  • The Vikings will return home when they will start a four-game home stand.  CSU will start the home stand off playing Duquesne on Wednesday (Sept. 18) at 7:30 p.m. and then will match up with Buffalo on Sunday (Sept. 22) at 1 p.m.
