Cleveland State Lacrosse Falls at Jacksonville, 18-6

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Cleveland State (5-4, 2-1) had its four-game winning streak ended by Jacksonville (6-3, 3-0) on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 18-6.

The Vikings struck first at the 10:31 mark as Dylan Tomarchio found the back of the net off a pass from Thomas Chevalier. The Dolphins responded with five unanswered goals to claim a 5-1 advantage with 3:38 left in the opening quarter.

Amiri Austin notched an unassisted tally with 46 ticks to go as Cleveland State trailed 5-2 heading into the second quarter.

Jacksonville netted the first three goals of the new quarter, extending their lead to 8-2 with 9:06 to go in the first half. A man-up goal from Austin off a feed from Alex Van Voorhis brought the margin down to five with 7:17 showing.

Three minutes later, JU scored their final goal of the half. With 12 seconds remaining, Austin completed his hat-trick as the Green and White trailed 10-4 at halftime.

Connor Zwagerman struck just 34 seconds into the third quarter as the deficit was cut in half. The Dolphins came right back with three consecutive goals to make it 13-5 with 5:44 to go. Cole Pollard secured the final goal for the Vikings with 1:35 showing as Cleveland State trailed 13-6 with one quarter left.

Jacksonville held the Green and White scoreless in the final quarter while scoring five times to win the ASUN game, 18-6.

Connor Kernan suffered his first loss of the season in goal despite making 12 saves. Evan Moskwa picked up four ground balls while going 8-of-13 in the faceoff circle.

Austin recorded his third career hat-trick and first of the season while Chevalier's assist was the first of his career.

The Vikings remain on the road to face Air Force in ASUN play on Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
