Cleveland State Lacrosse Announces Captains for 2024 Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State University men's lacrosse head coach Andy German announced Amiri AustinKarson BurkeyGrayson DagueLane MillerReggie Regala, and Charlie Williams as captains for the upcoming 2024 season.

"This is a tremendous group of leaders and student-athletes that represent the best our program and Cleveland State have to offer," said coach German. "Being chosen by your peers to lead is a great honor, and they have done a great job already this Fall and will continue to shape this team in a very positive way heading into the 2024 campaign. They're leaders, they're mentors, and I couldn't be prouder to have them as captains for this year."

These six players will lead the Green and White in its final season of ASUN play before moving over to the NEC in 2025. These players have appeared in 159 combined games for the Vikings throughout their careers.

Austin enters his redshirt junior season, having played in 26 games with 21 starts in the midfield. Austin has produced 18 goals and 12 assists while collecting 20 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. In 2022, he was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.

Burkey goes into his senior season, having appeared in 29 contests with 25 starts on defense. This past year, he recorded his first career assist against Lindenwood. Burkey has accumulated 38 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers.

Dague is a senior who has played in 23 career games in the midfield. Dague has three goals and four assists for seven points during his time with the Vikings. Dague has scooped up 28 ground balls and caused five turnovers.

Miller is a junior who has appeared in 20 contests in the midfield. Miller boasts a goal and three assists, all of which came this past season. He also has 20 career ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Regala enters his redshirt junior year having played in 25 games with seven starts on defense. Regala boasts one goal, one assist, 38 ground balls, and 12 caused turnovers. Off the field, he serves as the SAAC President.

Williams is a fifth-year senior who has played in 36 games as a faceoff specialist. For his career, he is 131-of-314 in the circle with 57 ground balls. This past season, Williams scored his first two collegiate goals after winning the faceoff.
