The Buckeyes opened their season on Saturday, February 5 with an 18-7 home victory over Detroit. Nine different OSU players scored in the game, led by a game-best five from Jack Myers. Jason Knox and Jackson Reid finished with hat-tricks. Caston Johnson made eight saves in goal. In the faceoff circle, Justin Inacio was 18-of-21, while Trent DiCicco picked up nine ground balls.
Matchup History
This will be the fourth meeting all-time between these two teams with Ohio State winning all three games. The Buckeyes won the last meeting in 2019, 12-9, which was also the season opener for the Green and White.
Season Outlook
Cleveland State will be under the direction of head coach Andy German, who is in his third season with the Vikings. The Green and White are 5-12 under German and are coming off a 3-7 campaign.

The ASUN took to social media to poll the fans for the conference preseason superlative awards. The Vikings brought home two of the three awards.
Jason Sullivan was named the Fan-Voted Preseason Player of the Year. Sullivan started all 10 games last season for the Vikings, leading them in assists with 11. He also added six goals for 17 points on the year. The senior has played in 36 career games, scoring 19 goals to go along with 26 assists. In addition, he has picked up 18 ground balls.
Nick Polydoras was tabbed the Fan-Voted Preseason Midfielder of the Year. Polydoras played in all 10 games last season with four starts. He scored 10 goals and added an assist for 11 points, while also picking up 10 ground balls and causing five turnovers. The senior has appeared in 32 games with 15 starts, scoring 28 goals to go along with nine assists for 37 points.
