CLEVELAND, Ohio – In conjunction with season tickets going on sale for the 2017 season, Cleveland State University head lacrosse coach Dylan Sheridan announced that the new program's first-ever game will be a home contest against the University of Michigan.

The Vikings will play their inaugural regular-season contest as a Division I member by hosting the Big Ten foe Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7:00 p.m.

"One of the core values we seek to instill in our student-athletes is to aspire to become your best self and persevere through any and all adversity you meet along the way," Sheridan said. "In creating our inaugural schedule we worked hard to put together a list of opponents that line up with those objectives. We managed to schedule seven teams expected to start the year ranked in the national top 20."

"As always, the game we are most excited about is the next one," Sheridan said. "This happens to be a special case, as the next one is our program's debut. I'm grateful and excited to announce that we are hosting the University of Michigan on February 4, 2017, at Krenzler Field. It's my hope that lacrosse fans from every part of the country make the trip to Cleveland to support Vikings lacrosse and the growth of our sport at the highest level. Due to capacity limitations inside of our dome, we are hoping for a sellout crowd. Coach Paul and his staff have done a tremendous job building their program in a short period of time, and we are looking forward to measuring ourselves against the Wolverines, this year and in years to come."

Cleveland State is also excited to announce the creation of the Extra Man Organization (EMO), the official friends group of CSU lacrosse. Fans can guarantee a ticket to the Michigan game as well as the other five home games on the schedule by joining the EMO.

There are three levels at which individuals can join the EMO, each of which comes with varying number of season tickets. All members of the EMO will be invited to a preseason event at the Rocky River Brewing Company and a pre-game tailgate at Hofbrauhaus before one game. Higher levels of contribution not only provide great support to the fledging program but also include a custom-designed donor gift and a meet-and-greet after a game with the team.

"This is truly a historic time for the Cleveland State lacrosse program," Sheridan said. "The Extra Man Organization is an opportunity for our fans to become a member of the team! As part of the first ever group to support our program, members of the EMO receive a unique window into the lacrosse fan experience. The money gifted to our program via the EMO will profoundly impact our student-athletes' experience.

"It's our mission for Vikings lacrosse to make a positive impact on the students and campus community, but also on everybody involved with the game in Northeast Ohio as well as those who are already members of CSU Athletics loyal fanbase."

Season tickets can also be purchased at a price of $40 for adults and $30 for youths (children under 12).

Fans interested in joining the EMO or purchasing season tickets should contact Carrie Neville at (216) 687-5440.

CSU faculty and staff are eligible for buy one, get one free on season tickets (limit one complimentary ticket per Cleveland State ID). CSU students will be free with a valid Viking Card although supply for student tickets may be limited at select games.

Individual game tickets will go on sale in December while the full schedule will be released at a later date.

Cleveland State will be the second Division I institution in Ohio to play men's lacrosse. The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) also is sponsoring boys lacrosse for the first time in 2017, including holding a statewide tournament.
