CLEVELAND, Ohio - Andrew Bailey (Rocky River, Ohio), who helped St. Ignatius H.S. to a third place finish at the state tournament this past fall, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Cleveland State men's golf program beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.

Head coach Steve Weir made the announcement on Thursday (Nov. 19) morning.

"We are really excited to have a player of Andrew's caliber join the program," Weir said. "He has a ton of potential and comes from one of the best high school programs in the state. He knows how to win team tournaments and I expect him to be a fixture in our lineup for years to come."

Bailey lettered in golf for the last three years at St. Ignatius, playing for head coach Dan Hess. He helped the Wildcats to three consecutive sectional and district crowns and third place finishes at the state tournament during his junior and senior seasons when he was the No. 2 golfer.

As a sophomore, Bailey was the No. 4 player, helping St. Ignatius to a sixth place finish at the state tournament.

Bailey earned first team all-district honors in each of his final two seasons after being an honorable mention pick as a sophomore.

He averaged 75.0 strokes per round as a senior, helping his squad break four records and was also the medalist at the 2009 St. Ignatius Invitational.
