Jake Scott Wins U.S. Open Local Qualifier

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Former Cleveland State golfer Jake Scott (Strongsville, Ohio) shot a six-under-par 65 to win the 2012 U.S. Open Local Qualifier at Beechmont Country Club on Tuesday.

Scott blistered the front nine with a five-under 31 and shot a one-under 34 on the back nine.

The event was halted yesterday due to darkness and concluded on Wednesday morning with the top eight finishers earning a spot at the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying.

Scott was joined in the 118 player field by CSU head golf coach Steve Weir and several players on the CSU roster.

Weir tied for 20th place with a one-over-par 72, while Michael Balcar ties for 32nd place with a 74.

Nick Paxos, who redshirted this season, and Jon Riemer tied for 48th with rounds of 76 and Michael Klaric tied for 62nd following a 77.
