Viking Linkster Named All-Conference

May 1, 2001

Cleveland State senior golfer Craig Hicks (Tecumseh, Ont./Belle River) had been named to the All-Midwestern Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Team, the league office has announced.

Hicks, one of only seven golfers to be honored, participated in all five CSU tournaments in the spring, finishing no lower than second on the team in all of them. He shot team-best scores in both the Citadel Invitational and Jack Wallace/Drake Relays, finishing third and seventh overall, respectively. His performance at the Citadel Invitational also helped him to earn MCC Golfer of the Week honors on March 20th.

In his 12 spring rounds, Hicks carded a 78 or lower ten times and finished the season with 929 total stokes. His 77.4 average and low round of 73 ranks first among Cleveland State golfers this spring.

Hicks has been a strong competitor with the team after transferring from the University of Windsor before the 1998 fall season. Since then, he has been a vital part of the CSU golf team's success, playing in 37 tournaments and averaging 76.2 during his Cleveland State career.

Joining Hicks on the All-MCC team were Golfer of the Year Shaun Rezachek and Brian Berggren of UW-Green Bay, Jesse Hutchins and John Schones of Wright State, Mitch Foss of Butler, and Adam Walicki of Detroit.

Hicks closes out his collegiate career April 30-May 1 at the MCC Collegiate Championships being held at Cog Hill Golf Course in Lemont, Ill.
