CLEVELAND - After playing an integral role in Cleveland State's first tournament title in over three years, senior Steve Weir was named the Horizon League Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday (April 26). The Brunswick, Ohio native finished in second place as Cleveland State claimed the Dayton Spring Invitational by eight strokes on April 23-24.

Weir finished at seven-over par 223 -- just a shot behind St. Bonaventure's Josh Anderson. Just as he did at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, Weir excelled on the demanding track at Shaker Run Golf Club in Lebanon, Ohio. Last July, he advanced to the match play portion of the championship as the 24th seed.

Weir also finished second at Belmont Invitational (April 3-4), losing on the first playoff hole.

Cleveland State closes out the regular season this weekend (April 29-30) at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate at Firestone Country Club. The Vikings then head to Indianapolis for the Horizon League Championship on May 1-2.
