INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After claiming medalist honors at the Wright State Invitational earlier this week, Cleveland State senior Doug Barber has been selected as the Horizon League Men's Golfer of the Week.

The league office made the announcement late Wednesday. It marks the third straight week that a CSU golfer has claimed the award with Jake Scott winning the previous two honors.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Doug," head coach Steve Weir said. "He really played flawless golf last week and the rest of the team fed off the success he was having."

Barber won the Norm Bullock Collegiate Classic with a 54-hole total of two-under-par 212. He opened the tournament with a 73 on Sunday and came back with rounds of five-under-par 67 and 74 on Monday.

The 67 was a career-low and the low round of the tournament, featuring five birdies and no bogies.

It was the second time Barber has won a tournament in his career and the first time since he claimed the 2005 Horizon League Championship as a freshman. Barber's medalist performance also helped the Vikings claim the tournament title.

CSU is out of action until the Vikings compete in the Detroit Invitational on Friday (April 18) and Saturday (April 19).
