CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team continues its busy stretch to open the spring season when the Vikings play in the Butler Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (March 26-27) at the par-72, 6,690-yard Prestwick G.C. in Avon, Ind.

It will be CSU's third tournament in as many weeks after playing two events in Florida over spring break.

"This is a very busy stretch for us to open the spring season, but I am happy with the way we are progressing as a team," head coach Steve Weir said. "I still don't think we have played our best golf yet and the key is to stay focused mentally and limit out mistakes."

The Vikings recently returned from Florida after a 10 day trip in which they played two tournaments and several practice rounds over spring break.

CSU finished seventh of 13 teams at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville (March 12-13) and 13th of 15 teams at the UCF Rio Pinar (March 19-20) which featured four of the top 100 teams in the country.

"We were able to get some good experience in Florida with those two events," Weir said. "The tournament at Butler will conclude a tough stretch three week stretch for us and we will have to go into the event with the right mind set and ready to manage the course."

Sophomore Andrew Bailey continues to lead the Vikings with a 73.3 scoring average, which would be the third lowest in a single-season in CSU history. He had three rounds of par or better in Florida and now has a team-leading eight this year and 16 for his career, tied for the fourth most in school history.

Bailey tied for 20th at the UCF Rio Pinar with rounds of 69-76-72 (217).

Junior Jon Riemer led the Vikings at the Benbow Invitational, tying for 14th place with rounds of 72-75 (147). Riemer, who entered the season with a career scoring average of 79.5 over his first two seasons, is third on the team with a 74.9 average this year.

Following the Butler Spring Invitational, CSU will take two weeks off before competing in the Detroit Invitational on April 13-14.
