Golf Teams Ready to Go This Spring

March 13, 2011

We're sitting in the airport waiting to leave for spring break. It's been a slightly stressful 24 hours with the winter storm warning that popped up.

Although the storm caused CSU to cancel class today, flights have been on schedule at Akron/Canton airport and we should be in the air shortly.

It seems like yesterday that we were starting workouts this spring. The teams have really gotten themselves into better shape this spring. We've seen a lot of improvement from this fall and we're all excited to get out of the snow and onto the course. Now is the real test to see where we're at and go up against some competition.

It can be a challenge transitioning from practicing indoors to playing outside. We'll play a head-to-head match against Butler tomorrow and then will be playing the one of the most famous courses in the world, the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. I couldn't be more excited to be able to play Sawgrass and am just hoping that I can survive the island green 17th hole. It's going to be a memorable day!

We play Butler's tournament on Monday and Tuesday and then get another two full days on the golf course to play and practice and prepare for the spring season. Our hotel is on the beach so there will be time for the players to do some swimming and some things besides golf. The weather looks amazing- mid 70s and sunny every day. Spring break trips are probably my favorite of the year.

Now we need to go down and take care of business on the course.
