DAYTON, Ohio - Cleveland State finished third at the 18-hole Dayton Invitational held on Monday at the 7,055 yard, par 71 NCR South Course. The host Flyers claimed the team title with a 313, three shots clear of Cincinnati. The Vikings, led by Jake Scott's 78, carded a 320.

Cedarville's Scott Aker and IUPUI's Justin Wenger tied for medalist honors after posting 73s. The duo outdistanced Dayton's Matt Doherty and Butler's Michael Amore, who finished in a third-place tie at 75. Scott tied for seventh to lead CSU, while Ben Grandy's 79 was good for a tie for 10th.

"While I wanted to end the fall with a win, I thought we came out and competed on a very tough course," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "I was pleased with the way Jake and Ben played and with the fact that we were 10 shots clear of the only other league school in the field."

The Vikings added the tournament at the end of their fall schedule to replace the previously cancelled Cincinnati Fall Invitational.
