CSU Holds Four-Stroke Lead Through First Round of Ironhorse Intercollegiate

The Cleveland State men's golfers lead a field of 15 teams into the second day of Eastern Illinois' Ironhorse Intercollegiate after carding a 295 through 18 holes on Monday. The Vikings sit four strokes better than the University of Dayton and Butler University at the par 72 Ironhorse Golf Course in Tuscola, Ill.

The top four CSU golfers all stand within five strokes of each other and six strokes off the lead. Senior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennan) is currently tied for second with a 71. Junior Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) finds himself two strokes behind Komsa with a fifth-place score of 73, while sophomore Billy Houle (Joliette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) is two strokes behind Bognar tied for 14th with a 75. Junior Lyle Wilkens (Bloemfontein, South Africa/Grey College) carded a 76 for a 19th-place tie in his opening round.

Nathan Colson of Marquette University holds a one-stroke edge over Komsa and Mitch Foss of Butler to lead the individual field with a 70.

The second round of the tournament, scheduled for yesterday, could not be completed due to a delay in the start time. The round will be completed today before beginning the final 18 holes.
