HEBRON, Ky. - Cleveland State carded a final round 305 and finished 11th of 18 teams at the UC Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,103-yard Traditions G.C.
The event wrapped up the fall season for the Vikings.
"We didn't get off to a good start today and lost a couple shots, but I thought we did a nice job of holding it together and battling back," head coach Steve Weir said. "I feel that we are a better team than when we went out for our first event in September and our lineup is really taking shape.
"We have some things that we have to work on this winter in order to get better and we will continue to improve and hopefully the results will be there in the spring."
The Vikings had to go out this morning and finish three holes from Monday's second round which was suspended due to darkness. CSU finished the second round with a 286, the lowest in the field, and climbed all the way to fifth place.
"Unfortunately, we couldn't keep our momentum going to the final round, but I did see some good things that we will be able to carry over to the spring."
Senior Kent Monas led the Vikings as he tied for 28th place with rounds of 77-71-74 (222), while sophomore Michael Klaric tied for 32nd at 223 (72-71-80).
Freshman Andrew Bailey had CSU's low round of the tournament, firing a two-under-par 70 in the second round.
