WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Cleveland State held steady to finish in a tied for sixth place in the Joe Agee Invitational. George Washington claimed the team title with a wire-to-wire victory, out-distancing St. Joe's by five strokes. William & Mary hosted the 12-team event at the 6,868 yard, par 72 Two Rivers Country Club.

The Colonials' 54-hole total of one-over par, 865 topped St. Joe's and Old Dominion, who came in third at 871. The Vikings tied the host Tribe for sixth at 880.

GWU's Brian Carroll fired a final round 68 to earn medalist honors at six-under par, 216. He edged a group of four golfers tied for second at 213. Steve Weir was CSU's top finisher, posting a 220 to tie for 18th. Ben Grandy was tied for 24th at 222, while Doug Barber was a shot back in a tie for 27th. All five of the Viking golfers finished within five strokes of each other.

"This was our most consistent tournament of the year," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "We didn't do anything badly, we just couldn't put any red numbers up on the board. I thought we putted better today, but we need to learn to convert our opportunities."

Cleveland State is in action again on Oct. 10-11 when the Vikings head to the Xavier Invitational at Oasis Golf Club in Loveland, Ohio.
