WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Cleveland State stands in sixth place (587) after putting together solid rounds of 295 and 292 on the opening day of the Joe Agee Invitational. George Washington leads the 12-team field with a 573, eight shots clear of its closest competitor. William & Mary is hosting the event at the 6,868 yard, par 72 Two Rivers Country Club.

The Vikings are just two shots out of fourth and six shots out of second heading into Tuesday's final round. St. Joe's and Old Dominion are tied for second at 581.

Boston College's Robert Reed carded rounds of 72 and 68 and holds a one-shot lead at four-under par (140). GWU's Tim Johnson and W & M's Doug Hurson are tied for second at 141. Doug Barber paced CSU's efforts with a two-over par 146 and stands in a tie for 14th. Steve Weir and Jake Scott are two shots farther back in a tie for 23rd.

"We were pretty steady today -- no one went real low, but no one shot a real high score either," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "We improved as the day went along, but never really got anything going. I think we still have our best round in us."

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
