Richmond, Ky. - The Cleveland State men's golf team carded a two-round score of 290-300---590 to place fifth at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic this weekend. The tournament, held at Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Ky., was shortened to two rounds due to heavy rain.

The four top Viking golfers finished within four strokes of each other. Senior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennen) paced the Vikings with a 72-74---146 to finish tied for 19th. Junior Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) finished one stroke behind Komsa with a 71-76---147 while senior P.J. Myers (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) trailed Bognar by a stroke with two rounds of 74. Sophomore Billy Houle (Joilette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) carded a 73-76---149 to round out the CSU scoring.

Eastern Kentucky, winners of last year's tournament, took medallist honors with a 286-280---566 to finish 19 strokes ahead of Tennessee Tech. The team had five golfers finish in the top six spots, led by individual medallist Len Ashby, who tallied a 70-70---140.

The Vikings will get a break in the schedule before competing in the Eastern Illinois Invitational on October 14-15.
