Vikings in Eighth through First Round of Blue Demon Invitational

The Cleveland State men's golf team carded a first-round score of 303 for eighth place at the DePaul Blue Demon Invitational Monday. The second round was only partially completed and postponed until Tuesday after the start was delayed due to frost at Prairie Landing Golf Club.

Senior captain Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) and freshman Ben Grandy (Southgate, Mich./Gabriel Richard) were the only two Vikings to complete two rounds on the first day. The pair stands tied with scores of 147, with Bognar shooting a 71-76 and Grandy posting a career-best 69 after an opening round of 78.

Senior Billy Houle (Joliette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) completed the first round by tallying a double-eagle on the par-5 18th hole for a first-round score of 75, while freshman Mike Rutgers (Kingsville, Ontario/Cardinal Carter) posted a 79 in his first 18 holes.

Southern Illinois currently resides in first with a team score of 290.

The remainder of the second round will be completed before the Invitational concludes with the third round on Tuesday.
