CHICAGO - Cleveland State couldn't maintain the momentum of Monday afternoon's season-low round as the Vikings dropped from second to third in the final standings at the John Dallio Memorial Invitational hosted by DePaul. Saint Louis built on its comfortable seven-shot margin heading into Tuesday, besting 14 other teams to win the team title by nine strokes at the 6,968 yard, par 72 Prairie Landing Golf Club.

The Billikens finished at one-over par 865 at the conclusion of 54 holes to defeat runner-up Western Illinois, which carded an 874, and the Vikings who checked in at 885.

The 36-hole leader for the second year in a row, CSU junior Mike Rutgers shot a 78 to finish in a tie for 13th at 219 (+3). Saint Louis' David Perritt fired a final round 68 to claim medalist honors at seven-under par, 209. Eastern Illinois' Matt Kockler was the runner-up at 214 (-2).

Senior Steve Weir wound up in a tie for 27th at 224, while freshman Jake Scott and junior Ben Grandy carded 225s to tie for 30th. Scott posted the team's low round of the day with a one-over par 73.

"We took a good step forward this week despite running into a little bit of trouble this afternoon," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "We still have a lot to work on, but we're definitely headed in the right direction."

Cleveland State is in action again on Oct. 3-4 when the Vikings travel to Williamsburg, Va. for the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by William & Mary at Two Rivers Country Club.
