BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cleveland State shot rounds of 310 and 292 (602) and is in second place after the first two rounds of the John Piper Invitational that opened on Monday. The 54 hole event is being played at the par-72, 7,044-yard Stone Ridge G.C.

The Vikings were five shots back of Bowling Green after the opening round after the Falcons shot a 305. CSU was able to make up one shot in the second round and enters Tuesday's final round four shots behind the host Falcons (598).

CSU is also just one shot ahead of third place Loyola (603).

The Vikings tied with Loyola for the lowest second round today.

"We had some tough conditions out there today with the rain, but we battled and stayed tough mentally," head coach Steve Weir said. "It's never fun to play 36 holes in this kind of weather, but I'm happy with the way everyone battled. Today's rounds have put us in a good position to make a run tomorrow and see what happens."

Junior Michael Klaric bounced back from a first round 78 and shoot a one-under-par 71 in round two and is tied for eighth place overall at 149. Junior Jon Riemer is also tied for eighth place after rounds of 75-74..

Sophomore Andrew Bailey is tied for 13th place at 151 (78-73) and sophomore Brendan Byrne is tied for 18th after rounds of 79-74 (153).

The Vikings will tee off at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the final round. CSU will be in the final group with Bowling Green and Loyola.
