HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Cleveland State shot rounds of 291 and 284 and is in 11th place of 15 teams after the first day of the Marshall Invitational that is being played at the par-71, 6,534-yard Guyan Golf and Country Club.

"We didn't get off to a great start today, but we battled and came back with a good second round," assistant coach Doug Barber said. "We need to go out and have a round tomorrow and get off to a better start. Hopefully we'll be able to make some birdies early and work our way up the leaderboard a bit."

The Vikings are ahead of Western Kentucky, William & Mary, Cincinnati and Ohio in the field and are just four shots behind 10th place Marshall. CSU is also just six shots behind ninth place Wright State and seven back of Kentucky.

Sophomore Andrew Bailey followed an opening round even-par 71 with a one-under par 70 and leads the Vikings at 141. He is tied for 20th place. Sophomore Brendan Byrne is close behind, tied for 27th at 144, after rounds of 74-70, while junior Michael Klaric shot rounds of 72-75 and junior Jon Riemer shot 74-73 as the duo is both at 147.

Jon Riemer followed a first round 77 with an even-par 71 and is at 148.
