VERONA, N.Y. - Cleveland State shot a final round 316 and finished ninth of 13 teams at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Monday. The two-day, 54-hole event was hosted by Missouri at Turning Stone Resort (Kaluhyat Course).

"We were never able to get anything going either day, but we never gave up and kept battling," head coach Steve Weir said. "We had to overcome some adversity since we were only playing with four players after Pat (Elber) was injured in the first round. We need to put this behind us, come back and work on some things and get it straigtened out for Bowling Green."

The Vikings finished ninth after rounds of 316-314-316 (946).

Senior Kyle Cobb tied for 11th overall after firing rounds of 74-75-78 (227), while junior Kent Monas was two shots back tied for 15th place at 229 (76-77-76).

Freshman Alex Michalowski tied Monas for low team round of the day today with a 76 and wound up tied for 42nd in his first collegiate tournament with a three-round total of 242 (85-80-76).

The Vikings will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 14-15) when CSU competes in the John Piper Invitational hosted by Bowling Green.
