Oklahoma State Widens Lead After 36 Holes At NCAA Central Regional

May 19, 2006

CHARDON, Ohio - Oklahoma State showed on Friday why it earned the top seed in the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Central Regional, shooting the low round for the second consecutive day to take a commanding nine-stroke lead over Northwestern. The 27-team field is competing at the 7,173 yard, par 71 Sand Ridge Golf Club.

The Cowboys are the only team in red numbers at three-under par (565). The second-place Wildcats are at plus-six, while Texas A & M rounds out Saturday's final round lead threesome at seven-over par.

Oklahoma State was paced by Zack Robinson, who took over the individual lead at five-under par (137) with a bogey-free 66 in a persistent rain coming in off of Lake Erie. The score was just one stroke off of the tournament course record set by Xavier's Andy Connell at the Cleveland State Invitational last September. Robinson holds a slim one-shot margin over teammate Jonathan Moore, who posted his second consecutive 69 to move to four-under (138).

Texas A & M's Bronson Burgoon and Lamar's Dawie Van der Walt are tied for third at 139, two shots ahead of a trio of players at one-under par.

Play concludes with Saturday's final round, which begins with the top teams teeing off at 7:00 a.m. and runs throughout the day. The top 10 teams and two individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships which run from May 31 to June 3 at the Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore.
