Vikings in Third After Two Rounds of Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State shot a second round 305, one shot higher than yesterday's opening round, and is in third place out of eight teams at the Horizon League Championship.

The 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 6,933-yard Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

CSU,which has a two-round total of 609, will enter tomorrow's final round just four shots behind Loyola (605) and just one shot behind Green Bay (608) in the tightly bunched standings.

Detroit is in fourth place at 610 and is followed by Valparaiso (614), Butler (618), Wright State (625) and Youngstown State (629).

Junior Jon Riemer followed yesterday's 74 with another round of 74 today and is in second place overall at 148, just one shot behind Detroit's Lucas Kim who has rounds of 74-73 (147).

Riemer was four-over after an opening nine 39, but rallied with two birdies and an eagle for a two-under-par 35 on the back nine.

Sophomore Andrew Bailey is tied for ninth place after back-to-back 76's (152), while junior Michael Klaric is tied for 14th place after his second straight 77 (154).

Freshman Michael Balcar is tied for 19th at 155 (77-78), while sophomore Brendan Byrne is tied for 30th place at 159 (79-80).

The final round of the league championship will be played on Sunday.
