HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State shot an opening round 304 and is tied for third place at the Horizon League Championship.

The 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 6,933-yard Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The Vikings, who are the defending champions, are just three shots behind first place Green Bay, which opened with a 301. Detroit is in second at 303, while Valparaiso is tied for third with CSU.

Loyola is fifth at 314, while Butler and Youngstown State are tied for sixth at 315 followed by Wright State three shots back at 318.

Jon Riemer paced the Vikings with a two-over par 74 and is tied for third place overall, while Andrew Bailey is tied for 11th after a first round 76.

Michael Balcar and Michael Klaric both shot 77 and are tied for 16th, while Brendan Byrne opened with a 79 and is tied for 23rd.

The second round of the league championship will take place on Saturday.
