LEXINGTON, Ky. - Freshman Michael Klaric shot a final round two-under-par 70 to tie for sixth place as Cleveland State finished sixth of eight teams at the 2010 Horizon League Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 7,032 yard Kearney Hills G.C.

Klaric's finish earned him a spot on the all-tournament team.

The final round was supposed to begin at 8:00 a.m. this morning, but didn't begin until after 1:00 p.m. due to heavy thunderstorms in the area.

CSU carded identical rounds of 306 in the first and second rounds on Monday.

"We were finally able to get some things going today, but once again, we had a few holes that really cost us an even better round," head coach Steve Weir said. "Today was a grind mentally on the guys, but they did a good job of hanging in there and not letting the delay or the elements affect them."

Klaric led the Vikings with a sixth place showing (76-73-70 - 219) after a final round 70 that included birdies on his 14th, 15th and 16th holes of the day. CSU started on the 10th tee.

"Michael really played well all week and continued to grow as the season went on," Weir said. "I look forward to his continued improvement as a player as he has a very bright future."

Senior Kyle Cobb closed his career with an ever-par round of 72 and tied for 10th place at 222 (75-75-72).

He was named to the All-Horizon League first team.

"Kyle has been a huge part of the success that we have experienced over the last four years and we will miss his leadership next season," Weir said.

CSU, the two-time defending champion, played the entire spring season without two of its top three players as senior Patrick Elber sat out due to a wrist injury and junior Kent Monas missed the spring season due to personal reasons.

"It was unfortunate that we couldn't have Pat and Kent in the lineup, but I think that allowed some of our younger guys a chance to play and grow up a bit," Weir said. "That will only help us in the long run."

Detroit won the league title by six shots over Green Bay (875-881). They were followed by Youngstown State (891), Wright State (894), Butler (904), Cleveland State (905), Loyola (925) and Valparaiso (943).
