Vikings Conclude Regular Season With Seventh Place Finish at Earl Yestingmeier Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - Cleveland State shot a final round 381 and moved up three places to finish tied for seventh of 15 teams at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational that was concluded on Sunday at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware C.C.

The format has each team playing six golfers with the five lowest scores counting as opposed to the traditional five players playing and the four lowest scores counting.

Ball State won the team title with a three round total of 1,104 (354-372-378), while Eric Steger of Ball State earned medalist honors with a 214 (67-72-75).

"We started off well today, but gave away some shots down the stretch," head coach Steve Weir said. "We were able to jump over some teams in the standings today and hopefully we'll be able to work on a few things before heading to Florida for the league championship this weekend."

Freshman Andrew Bailey paced the Vikings by tying for 18th place with rounds of 70-80-75 (225).

Senior Drew Davidson had CSU's low round today, carding a 72 to tie for 26th place overall at 227 (76-79-72).

The Vikings are back in action when CSU competes in the Horizon League Championship from Friday through Sunday (April 22-24) in Howie in the Hills, Fla.
