Avon, Ohio - After an hour and a half frost delay postponed the final round of the Cleveland State University Invitational Saturday, the Viking men's golf team shot a score of 314 to finish in third place overall with a 625 (311-314). The women's squad also placed third, carding a two-round total of 780 (383-397) at Red Tail Golf Club in Avon, Ohio.

Senior Billy Houle paced the men's team, shooting a 74 on the final day to card a 151 (77-74) for a sixth-place tie. Freshman Ben Grandy also finished in the top 10, posting a 154 (75-79) for a ninth-place tie.

On the women's side, sophomore Kristen Obush tallied a second-place showing with a solid 163 (81-82), finishing only one stroke off the lead.

Oakland University took the team titles in both tournaments, with the men carding a 596 (297-299) and the women finishing with a 667 (339-328). Mara Mazzoni of Oakland led all women's scorers with a 162 (85-77), as Rob Krajewski of Canisius prevented a Golden Grizzly sweep by earning men's individual medallist honors with a 143 (71-72).

Inclement weather on Friday forced the tournament to be shortened to 36 holes from the originally slated 54.

The CSU men are in action again on Monday (April 5) when they travel to Franklin, Tenn., for the Belmont Invitational. The Viking women are idle until the Ashland Open on April 17.
