Cleveland State Men’s Golf Eighth after Day One at Don Benbow Spring Invitational

Indianapolis, IN-The Cleveland State men's golf team sits in seventh place in the team race after 36 holes at the Don Benbow Spring Invitational hosted by Butler University. The Vikings sit at 16-over par after two rounds, 18 shots back of the lead shared by the host Bulldogs and Purdue Fort Wayne who are tied at 2-under overall.

Brody Simms paced the Viking lineup on Monday finishing in a tie for 29th at 2-over par. Simms posted a 3-over 73 in the opening round and rebounded with a 1-under 69 in the second round. Simms closed with a stellar back nine in the second round as he posted three birdies in his final seven holes to improve to 2-over par.

Mason Frazier was close behind finishing at 3-over par in a tie for 36th place in the individual standings. Frazier posted the low round of the day for the Vikings, a 68 in the opening round. Frazier carded three birdies against one bogey in his first round to post a 2-under mark. Frazier posted a 75 in his second round to finish at 3-over for the day. 

Dillon Pendergast is tied for 43rd after a 4-over total through two rounds. Pendergast posted a 5-over 75 in the first round before finishing in red numbers in the second round for a 1-under 69. Pendergast played stellar golf on the front nine in his second round, carding a bogey-free 4-under 31 on the front side.

Alex Anderson is tied for 98th at 12-over par after posting identical scores of 76 in the first two rounds. Dominik Cosic is at 15-over and Ben Scheeff is at 16-over with both playing as individuals.
