Kettering, OH-It was a tale of two rounds for the Cleveland State men's golf team on opening day at the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club's South Course. The Vikings posted a 16-over par team score of 300 in the opening round before heating up in the afternoon. Cleveland State improved by 21 shots in the second round, posting a 5-under 279. In the end, the Vikings are 11-over par and in ninth place through two rounds.

Brody Simms led the way individually, sitting in a tie for 23rd at 1-over par. Simms posted a 5-over 76 in the opening round and rebounded in the afternoon with a smooth 4-under 67, the lowest round of the day for a CSU player. Simms finished bogey-free in the second round, carding four birdies and 14 pars to post 67.

Andrew Kaye had a similar day, he too shot 76 in the morning round and improved significantly in the afternoon, finishing at 3-under 68. Kaye made six birdies in his second round, including a stretch of three in a row from holes 5-7 on the front nine. He sits in a tie for 27th at 2-over par.

Mason Frazier and Dillon Pendergast are each tied for 40th at 4-over par through two rounds. Frazier posted scores of 75-71 and Pendergast shot matching scores of 73. 

Dominik Cosic is tied for 70th at 12-over par and Ben Scheeff is 78th at 20-over par. The third and final round is set for tomorrow morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available on Golf Genius throughout the day.
