Huntington, WV-The Cleveland State men's golf team opens the 2023 fall season at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, West Virginia. The 54-hole event begins Monday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the opening round.
The Vikings are making a return trip to the tournament, hosted by Marshall University, after finishing 11th as a team in last year's event. The course measures 6,523 yards and will play to a par of 71. The first two rounds will take place on Monday with the third and final round set for Tuesday morning.
Cleveland State is one of 12 teams in the tournament field, five of which are from the Horizon League. Youngstown State, Robert Morris, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Northern Kentucky will all tee it up in this week's event.
The Cleveland State lineup features an even mix of returning talent and new faces. Three Vikings return to the lineup after seeing significant time last season, led by senior Andrew Kaye. Kaye competed in all ten tournaments last season, finishing with a 74.6 scoring average. Kaye recorded a T-32 finish in last year's event.
Brody Simms also returns after competing in every tournament last year. He finished with a 75.7 average across 30 competitive rounds. Mason Frazier returns after competing in five tournaments last season. Frazier finished with a 77.0 scoring average last season and is prepared to take on a larger role this season.
In addition, three Vikings will be making their college debuts. Freshmen Dillon Pendergast, Ben Scheef and Dominik Cosic will all see their first action in this week's tournament. Pendergast and Scheeff will compete in the lineup for CSU, with Cosic competing as an individual.
