FINAL ROUND RECAP

MALVERN, Pa. – Three Vikings reset their best collegiate round to help the Cleveland State University men's golf team break the single-round school record in relation to par in the second and final round of the Wildcat Spring Invitational Tuesday.

CSU shot -14 (270) at the par-71, 6,733-yard White Manor CC hosted by Villanova. The previous school record in relation to par was -10 while the 270 strokes tied the school record. Tuesday's effort also marked the first time the Vikings shot below 280 during the spring portion of the season.

Senior Anton Krecic and sophomore Zach Robbins led the way by each firing six-under 65. The 65 tied both players for the second-lowest round in school history, most recently achieved in September 2016. In CSU history, the 65 trails only the 63 current head coach Steve Weir shot at the Belmont Intercollegiate.

Krecic used seven birdies against a lone bogey to shoot his 65. He was -1 through eight holes but had five birdies over his final 10 holes to finish the round.

Robbins had eight birdies and two bogeys in his career-best round. After making two bogeys in a three-hole stretch past the midpoint of the round, Robbins responded by making birdie on three of his next four holes to move to -6.

Robbins finished the tournament in a tie for third place at -4 (138). It was Robbins' second top-three finish of the season. Krecic completed the event at -1 (141) to secure his first top-20 finish of the season.

Sophomore Zak Supelak finished the final round at -4 (67) after making six birdies against a lone double bogey. It was his first collegiate round in the 60's. He finished at -3 (139) for the event to register his second top-10 showing of the season.

Sophomore Jules Blakely rounded out the scoring contingent with a two-over 73. After a 71 Monday, tying his season-low round, Blakely finished at +2 (144), among the top 30 in the field of over 100 players.

CSU's 270 was the low round of the day among the 20 teams competing. The other 19 teams averaged 4.8 shots over par compared to CSU's -14.

Cleveland State finished tied for third in the 20-team field at -7 (561). The Vikings finished one shot behind second-place Akron after gaining 16 shots on the Zips Tuesday.

Freshman Miles DeMuesy shot a 79 Tuesday and finished the event at +12 (154).

Cleveland State will contest its final event of the regular season this Sunday and Monday, April 14-15. The Vikings will compete in the Wright State Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf Club.
