Defending Champs Picked Second in Horizon League Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State, the five-time defending Horizon League champion, has been selected to finish second in the Horizon League Preseason Men's Golf Poll as selected by the conference head coaches and announced by the league office on Wednesday.

The Vikings finished second in the poll after receiving two first-place votes and 49 points, while Oakland finished first in the poll with five first-place votes and 61 points. IUPUI was third (47 pts) and Northern Kentucky finished fourth (36 pts).

Cleveland State will be led by senior Anton Krecic who is a two-time All-Horizon League selection. He earned First Team All-Horizon League honors last year after being selected to the second team in 206-17. Krecic, who had a stroke average of 74.2 last year, was the runner-up at the Horizon League Championship and was selected to the all-tournament team.

Fellow senior Nick Infanti had a 75.1 average last season and placed 15th at the Horizon League Championship.

Sophomore Jules Blakely was the Vikings top finisher at the NCAA Regionals and finished the season with a 77.9 average, while sophomore Zak Supelak finished the season with a 76.9 average and earned an 18th-place finish at the Horizon League Championship.

Freshmen Miles DeMuesy and Jack Hanus will be competing in their first season for the Vikings in 2018-19.

The Vikings open the 2019 spring season on Feb. 25-26 at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.

The 2019 Horizon League men's golf championship will take place April 21-23 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hill, Fla.
