Vikings Selected for NCAA Men's Golf Columbus Regional

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team has been selected to compete in the NCAA Men's Golf Columbus Regional, which will take place from May 14-16 at The Scarlet Course and hosted by Ohio State.

The field for the NCAA Men's Golf Championship was announced on Wednesday afternoon live on The Golf Channel. This will be the second time CSU will compete at the Columbus Regional with the Vikings also playing the NCAA Regional in Columbus in 2008.

This will be CSU's fifth straight appearance at the NCAA Regionals and the ninth in the last 13 years after the Vikings won the Horizon League Championship last week ago in Florida. The Vikings were in second place after the first round, but a tournament-best second round 292 allowed CSU to build an 11-shot lead after two rounds. A final round 294 - the second lowest round of the tournament - helped the Vikings run away from the field with an 18-shot victory over runner-up Oakland.

Anton Krecic finished as the runner-up, while Blake Prince was fifth as the duo was named to the All-Tournament team.

CSU also played in the NCAA regionals in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 14-16 with 13 teams and 10 individuals not on those teams competing at each of three regionals. The other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams.  The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the championship round.

Team and individual titles will be contested from May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. with Oklahoma State serving as the host.
