Vikings Vault Into Lead at Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State fired a second round 292 to vault into the lead after two rounds at the Horizon League Championship that continued on Monday at the par-71, 6,670-yard El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort.

The Vikings, who are seeking their fifth straight League title and ninth overall in the last 13 years, entered the second round in second place, six shots behind Wright State. However, CSU's 292 - the low round of the tournament so far and just one of two team rounds under 300 - allowed the Vikings to take over the top spot heading into tomorrow's final round.

CSU has a 595 total after 36 holes, which is 11 shots ahead of Wright State (606) and 15 shots ahead of third place Northern Kentucky and IUPUI (610). Oakland is in fifth place at 611 and is followed by Youngstown State (625), Green Bay (626) and Detroit Mercy (628).

Through two rounds, CSU leads the field in par-four scoring (4.24), par-five scoring (5.07), pars (104) and birdies (22).

CSU has three players among the top eight after two rounds and four in the top-12.

Junior Anton Krecic is fourth overall with a 147 total, following a first round 76 with an even-par 71 today. The defending medalist at the League Championship, Krecic will enter the final round just one shot out of second place and seven shots out of first.

Junior Nick Infant is tied for sixth place overall at 149 (77-72), while senior Joey Krecic is tied for eighth place at 150 (76-74). Senior Blake Prince is in 12th place after rounds of 74-78 (152) and freshman Zak Supelak is tied for 18th place at 156 (81-75).

The Vikings will be in the final pairing for Tuesday's final round with Wright State and Northern Kentucky, teeing off between 9:10 am and 9:50 am.
