Vikings Finish Sixth at USF Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - Anton Krecic shot a final round 73 and Cleveland State shot a 310 to move up one spot and finish sixth of 11 teams at the USF Invitational that concluded on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,004-yard Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club.

The Vikings, who opened with rounds of 301 and 323 on Monday, finished with a 54 hole total of 934.

Senior Joey Krecic led the Vikings as he tied for 14th place with a 227 total. After opening the tournament with round sof 73-78 on Monday, Krecic shot a final round 76 today. He played the par-fives in one-under-par and made a team-best seven birdies over the three rounds.

Junior Anton Krecic tied for 18th place overall with rounds of 74-82-73 (229). He made 15 pars in today's final round and finished the event with 36 pars, tied for second most in the field. Krecic was also even-par on the par-fives for the tournament.

Freshman Jules Blakely tied for 41st place (74-82-83 - 239), while senior Blake Pricne shot 83-81-78 (242) and tied for 49th place and Zach Robbines was 58th overall at 250 (80-82-88).

Host South Florida won the event with an 875 total, while Florida Atlantic was the runner-up at 904. Southern Illinois was two shots back (906) in third place, while Florida Gulf Coast and Mercer tied for fourth at 921. CSU finished sixth and was followed by Delaware (939), Murray State (940), George Mason (941), Stetson (951) and Florida A&M (968) rounded out the field.

The Vikings return to action on April 2-3 at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational, which will be played at Chambers Bay, the site of the 2015 U.S. Open.
