Vikings Open Spring Season at Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team opens the spring season on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 26-27) at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament at The Wexford Plantation course, which measures 6,913 yards and is a par 72 layout.

Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with the final 18 on Tuesday and livestats will be availabe on Golfstat.

This year's field includes CSU, host Francis Marion, Akron, Charleston Southern, Dartmouth, Davidson, Dayton, Georgia, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Memphis, Mercer, Presbyterian, Radford, USC Aiken, TCU and Wofford.

The Vikings are coming off their fourth straight Horizon League Championship last spring, which was also their eighth in the last 12 seasons.

CSU was picked to finish second in the Horizon League preseason poll behind Oakland.

The Vikings had a strong fall season with three top-five finishes, including a win at the CSU Invitational in October where the Vikings defeated Oakland in a team playoff.

Junior Anton Krecic led CSU with a 72.5 scoring average in the fall, which included six rounds of par or better and a pair of top-five finishes. Last year's medalist at the League tournament, Krecic was CSU's top finisher at all five events in the fall.

Senior Joey Krecic and junior Nick Infanti both averaged 74.6 in the fall, while senior Blake Prince posted a 74.8 average and freshman Zak Supelak was at 75.5.

CSU is back in action at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla., from March 12-13.
