Vikings in Third After First Day of Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - Cleveland State in in third place after the opening two rounds of the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational that started on Friday at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware Country Club.

The Vikings shot rounds of 363 and 360 for a 54 hole total of 723 in the tournament where teams play six players with the top five scores counting as opposed to the traditional five play with four counting.

Eastern Kentucky leads the 13 team field with a 714 total, while host Ball State is second at 720, just three shots ahead of CSU. Taylor is fourth at 726, while Valparaiso is fifth at 733.

Junior Blake Prince shot back-to-back rounds of even-par 70 and is tied for fifth place with a 140 total. He was one of just nine players in the field to play the par fours in even par or better, posting an even-par score on the par fours today. In addition, his 26 pars are tied for the most in the field.

Senior Patrick Luth is in 11th place, following an opening round 74 with a one-under-par 69 in the afternoon for a 143 total. It was his 16th round of par or better this year. Luth made 10 birdies today, tied for the most in the field, including seven in his afternoon round.

Junior Joey Krecic is tied for 22nd place with a 146 total (71-75). He made 25 pars today, tied for second most in the field.

Sophomores Anton Krecic and Nick Infanti both shot 75-73 (148) and are tied for 31st place, while junior Matt McAdoo is tied for 57th place at 153 (73-80).

The final round of the tournament will be played on Saturday.
